火鸡节长假要在家陪狗狗，没有安排外出。正好有大把的时间来整理以前的照片和视频，再不翻出来就要真的淹没在2TB的photo文件夹里了。

这一组照片是冰川国家公园，来去匆匆，没有像样的hiking，不过倒是见到了傍晚和清晨的Goat Island和St Marys湖，有风的湖面和平静的湖面各有千秋。

很怀念那次的camping site，在一个避风处的松树下，没有什么比干燥松软的枯松针更好的地垫了。

捡了木头烧成碳，烤了提前腌好的鸡翅和牛肉，喝着Corona看着满天星空，然后一夜无梦。

–

Summit: 14,259 feet

Round hike: 16 miles

Elevation gain: 5,100 feet

Difficulty: Class 3, scrambling with increased exposure. Highest level of non-technical climbing, a rope can be carried but is usually not required.

In summer,  the frequent afternoon thunderstorms bring a risk of lightning strikes.

In order to reach the summit and return below the tree line early, we began the hike at 3:15 am, and back to the trailhead at 3:15 pm.

It was a great 12-hour hike.

Longs Peak is the only mountain with summit over 14,000 ft in Rocky Mountain National Park,

and also is one of the most difficult Class 3 fourteener scrambles in Colorado.

山区的魅力就是，200米的海拔就能让气候往后挪一季

 

 

 

 

手忙脚乱地在冰雨中搭好帐篷，搭好了才发现这只是个夏季用的家伙。外帐只能遮住顶上一片，内帐通风极好，但在这种天气就意味着我们不能指望靠帐篷保温了。

 

 

 

 

没有外帐延伸出去的门厅，只好把炉头气罐锅搬进来。培根虾仁和蟹棒，吃得倒不错。

 

 

 

 

 

喝了点酒，浑身暖和起来。时间太早，大家都睡不着，裹着睡袋谈天论地。棍状的雪花砸在帐篷上，嗒嗒嗒嗒…

 

 

过了午夜，有人打呼噜，有人听呼噜，就当都睡着了吧

 

 

 

天亮了，没有鸟叫。雪在冰火两个世界的夹层上早已凝固成冰。

 

 

 

 

 

帐篷已经变形下榻，靠着六根帐杆勉强支撑着。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

已经完全认不出12小时之前的周边环境

 

 

 

 

大家接受了我愚蠢的建议，把早餐拿到餐桌上做，有锅盖的豆浆还能热，可怜那几根香肠，永远不能体会到什么是温暖了

美国东部的阿巴拉契亚（Appalachia）山脉南起阿拉巴马州（Alabama），北至缅因州（Maine），几乎平行于海岸线涵盖了整个东岸。虽不及西边的落基山（Rocky）来得高大和陡峭，但其延绵的多条山脉以及期间生活的森林和动物都可谓是自然的瑰丽。弗吉尼亚州（Virginia）的Shenandoah National Park（以下叫仙那多）正是位于阿巴拉契亚山脉的黄金地带，也从属于美国最漂亮的一条路–Blue Ridge Parkway–的一部分。仙那多由一条盘旋于山脊上的110mile长的Skyline Drive（天际公路）和周边的区域组成， 公园里有森林瀑布草垫，也有黑熊臭鼬和数量庞大的鹿群。

 

 

 

出发的前一天正好是Penn State的homecoming weekend游行日，homecoming说白了就是Penn State喊校友回家吃顿饭，榨干他们的剩余价值。这次游行很不幸地碰上了30年来最冷的一个十月，雨雪交加，甚是凄凉。

 

 

 

 

明知山有雪，偏向雪山行–说的就是我们这趟去仙那多的四个人，尽管路上的雪和车窗上的冰雨一直让我们很担心晚上的露营。任何经历都是有价值的，如果每次都只等风和日丽的天气才出来，天气不好就躲在室内，纵然能得到好照片，可是今后不得已在户外遇上坏天气就傻眼了。

 

 

 

 

进公园入口的时候，工作人员给了我们天气的警告，并且彻底粉碎了大家对风景残留的一丝希望–山上能见度几乎为零，她说。

 

 

 

 

 

山脚的风景很好，除了接近零度的气温，雾蒙蒙的感觉还是不错的。我们进山前找了块避雨的地方把午餐解决了，冷豆浆面包水果和冰酸奶，和坐进冰箱吃东西的感觉差不多，如果你试过就知道我在说什么了。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

几部很酷的老爷车在停车场集合后突突突地开上山了，天知道它们怎么在之后一天的风雪中存活下来的…

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Skyline Drive建在山脊上，起伏并不太大，但是由于山势的原因，沿路的气候几乎十分钟一变。
